PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition showing flame retardation satisfying a vertical flame retardation test based on a UL standard while satisfying mechanical properties as an electric wire, generating no corrosive gas (a halogen gas) during incineration and being good to the environment by use of a resin containing no halogen. SOLUTION: The fire retardant resin composition contains 100 to 350 pts.wt. of a metal oxide hydrate and 5 to 50 pts.wt. of fine powder calcium silicate having a chemical composition of 3 to 95 wt.% of silicon oxide, 3 to 95 wt.% of calcium oxide and 0 to 10 wt.% of impurities each based on 100 pts.wt. of a polyolefin-based polymer comprising 20 to 40 wt.% of a polyolefine-based polymer, preferable a polyethylene-based resin, 10 to 30 wt.% of a polypropylene- based resin and 30 to 70 wt.% of ethylene-butylene rubber.
