FIELD: oxidation catalysts and inorganic compounds technology. SUBSTANCE: catalyst contains manganese-containing active component, alkali metal oxide or oxide mixture, and alumina, said active component being, more specifically, mixed amorphous oxide phase with non-stoichiometric composition: MnBiyOy(0,05<=x<=2,24;2,08<=y<=5,36) or mixture of amorphous phase MnBixOy and crystalline manganese- containing phase. Nitrous oxide is prepared in presence of indicated catalyst via oxidation of ammonia with oxygen or oxygen-containing gas at 250-450 C. Product is intended to be used in semiconductor engineering, perfumery, medicine, and food industry.
