FIELD: pulse engineering. SUBSTANCE: shaper circuit designed to solve comprehensive range of problems such as triggering laser diodes, magnetic flux reversal in ferrite cores, radiation modulation in devices incorporating electro-optic gates, investigating electro- optic characteristics and physical processes in gas discharge, and the like has thyristor whose anode is connected to first capacitor and through resistor, to power supply, first capacitor being connected through choke coil to primary winding of transformer whose secondary winding is connected on one end to cathode of composite drift diode noted for abrupt recovery of cut-off properties; anode of the latter is connected through second capacitor to other end of transformer secondary winding; thyristor cathode is connected to collector of heavy-power intermediate-frequency transistor whose emitter is connected to second end of transformer primary winding; transistor base and emitter, as well as thyristor gate electrode and cathode are connected to control signal source. As compared with similar pulse shaper using transistor switch, proposed one has its maximal operating frequency at least by two to four times higher, its maximal operating frequency is twice as high; as compared with shaper using thyristor switch operating at same amplitude of output pulses, maximal frequency of the proposed shaper increased from 100 Hz to 100 kHz; as compared with shaper using limited-current power supply, it increased from 2 to 100 kHz.
