PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery with improved high temperature characteristics including the high temperature cycle characteristic.

SOLUTION: This nonaqueous electrolyte contains an organic solvent and a lithium salt, and cations represented by general formula (1) is added to the electrolyte. [R1R2R3NH]+...(1) (R1, R2and R3are independently a hydrogen atom or a 1C or higher alkyl group directly connected to a nitrogen atom).
