摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a response speed in all gray scale including the response speed in halftone with a simple configuration and to improve viewing angle characteristics in a liquid crystal display device.

SOLUTION: At least one electrode has a stripe shape in a pair of electrodes, a structure 5 (6) scanning in a direction different from the scanning direction of the stripe shape is provided on at least one substrate 2 (1) in a pair of substrates 1 and 2, liquid crystal molecules 10 are in an almost vertical orientation on at least one substrate 1 surface when no voltage is applied, and a pretilt angle is provided in an azimuth direction different from the scanning direction of a striped electrode 3.
