BACKLIGHT SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight system which is capable of reducing noises and voltage fluctuation in power voltages due to the turn-on/turn-off of lamps and capable of eliminating a horizontal wave or flicker due to the interference between a PWM (pulse width modulation) signal and a vertical synchronizing signal and also capable of driving the lamps with a constant frequency even when the vertical synchronizing signal is changed. SOLUTION: The backlight system is provided with first and second lamps, a control part which receives the vertical synchronizing signal of a display device and generates first/second control signals which have duty cycles to be controlled by currents flowing through the first and second lamps and which are synchronized with the vertical synchronizing signal and first and second power supplying parts which generate first/second driving voltages for driving the first/second lamps so as to be synchronized with the first/second control signals and supplies the driving voltages to the first/second lamps.
