PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified cellulosic fiber effectively usable as a processing material mild to the environment by imparting corrosion resistance and toughness while keeping the flexibility and biodegradability possessed by a cellulosic fiber. SOLUTION: An aromatic compound having an electron-withdrawing group is introduced to the cellulosic fiber, and a CT complex is formed between an aromatic ring of the aromatic compound having the electron-withdrawing group and introduced to the cellulosic fiber, and aromatic rings of lignin. The modified cellulosic fiber obtained thus can be effectively used as a processing material mild to the environment in applications as a material for civil work, a material for construction work, a material for agriculture, or the like, because the cellulosic fiber obtained thus contains the lignins held by the cellulosic fiber, and the corrosion resistance and the toughness are imparted thereto while keeping the flexibility and the biodegradability possessed by the cellulosic fiber.
