PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal intermediate pressure type multi-stage compression rotary compressor capable of assuring the back pressure on the vanes of a second rotatingly compressing element and also increasing a sealability between the vanes and guide grooves. SOLUTION: An electrically moving element 14 and a first rotatingly compressing element 32 and the second rotatingly compressing element 34 driven by the electrically moving element 14 are installed in a closed container 12. The rotary compressor also comprises a cylinder 38 for forming the second rotatingly compressing element 34, a roller 46 fitted to an eccentric part 42 formed on the rotating shaft 16 of the electrically moving element 14 to eccentrically rotate in the cylinder 38, the vanes 50 coming into contact with the roller 46 to divide the inside of the cylinder 38 into a low pressure chamber side and a high pressure chamber side, the guide grooves formed in the cylinder to store the vanes 50, and a back pressure chamber formed in the cylinder 38 in communication with the guide groove to apply back pressures to the vanes 50. A pressure in an oil separator allowing the refrigerant gas discharged from the second rotatingly compressing element 32 to flow therein is applied to the back pressure chamber.
