<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting device capable of smoothly starting an engine. <P>SOLUTION: While a starter motor 15 is actuated, actuation of a motor generator 16 is prohibited, and while the motor generator 16 is actuated, actuation of the starter motor 15 is prohibited. Simultaneous actuation of the starter motor 15 and the motor generator 16 to extremely lower battery voltage is thus eliminated. Failure for both the starter motor 15 and the motor generator 16 to obtain necessary power for starting normally to cause extremely long time taken for engine start, or engine start failure, can thus be securely prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
