<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device of an internal combustion engine having a downsized assembly-angle retainer in a structure not requiring a great magnetic force and attaining the miniaturization of the whole and the reduction of power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The assembly-angle retainer 7 comprises a permanent magnet block 23, a polar-teeth yoke 24, and an electromagnetic coil 25. The permanent magnet block 23 is magnetized so that different poles alternately appear in the circumferential direction. The polar teeth yoke 24 comprises a 1st polar teeth ring 26 and a 2nd polar teeth ring 27, in which a plurality of polar teeth 26a, 27a are provided, respectively, and the polar rings 26, 27 are alternately arranged in the circumferential direction, and all the polar teeth are placed oppositely in a noncontact state in the magnetic surface of the permanent magnet block 23. The electromagnetic coil 25 is placed oppositely in a noncontact state to the 1st and the 2nd rings 26, 27 to generate different poles by energization in the polar teeth 26a, 27a. The coil 25 is placed within a VTC cover 8, the permanent magnet block 23 is fixed to an intermediate rotating body 5, and the polar teeth yoke 24 is fixed to a lever shaft 9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
