PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detoxification treatment of an organohalogen compound with which a fear of consuming the amount of an alkali metal can be reduced with a slight fear of converting organic solvents into a raw material for producing tarlike polymers and reactivity of the organohalogen compound with the alkali metal is good while simply controlling the temperature in a reactional step. SOLUTION: The method for the detoxification treatment of the organohalogen compound comprises a reactional step of reacting the organohalogen compound with the alkali metal in an organic solvent.
