PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new silane coupling agent given by introducing two or more functional groups into one molecule thereof and therefore capable of being increased in a density of introduced functional groups per unit area so as to greatly increase an amount of an organic material which is bonded onto an inorganic material. SOLUTION: This silane coupling agent is expressed by general formula (R is a lower alkyl; X is -NH<SB>2</SB>or -OH; Y is -O-, -NH- or -NR-; a, b, c, and d are each an integer of 1 to 100, provided that b and c are each allowed to be 0; and n is an integer of 2 to 100).
