<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for displaying a three- dimensional image appearing clearly and naturally by displaying a stereoscopic image which satisfies all of binocular parallaxes, a binocular angle of convergence, focusing as adjustment of the crystalline lens, and monocular motor parallaxes considered as an action for human being to recognize a solid. <P>SOLUTION: An infrared laser beam 2 irradiated from a laser generator 1 is reflected by a mirror 4 through a lens 3, and is focused on a predetermined position in a transparent vessel 5 containing particulates having a secondary nonlinear optical effect such as urea dispersed homogeneously in a dispersion medium such as water. The particulates which exist at a focused portion generates the second harmonic of the infrared laser beam, and the second harmonic can be seen. The two-dimensional scanning of the mirror 4 is carried out, the lens 3 is simultaneously moved to the optical axis direction, the scanning of the focus is carried out in the direction of an optical axis line, thereby three-dimensional scanning is carried out as a whole. An arbitrary stereo pattern can be thus pictured on an image space in the vessel 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
