<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a conventional end-to-end retry method in a multiprocessor computer system. <P>SOLUTION: In this static end-to-end retry device and its method using a concept of a sequence number combined with a path number, a special probe transaction, a plunge transaction, and respective responses are used for ensuring that there is no overlap transaction. Since an optional number of substitute paths are taken into consideration, communication can be continued normally by the rest of substitute paths with losing no transaction at all even when one path fails. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
