<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the contrast of a display picture by suppressing the effect of external light in a display system comprising a combination of a front surface projection display device and a reflective screen. <P>SOLUTION: The reflective screen to which the projection light from the front surface projection display device is projected is made to be a cholesteric liquid crystal layer and the property of selectively reflecting the circularly polarized light of the specified direction is imparted to the reflective screen. Further, the circularly polarized light of the specified direction which is selectively reflected by the cholesteric liquid crystal layer in the reflection type screen is set for the front surface projection display device. Thereby, such an operation that the circularly polarized light of the same specified direction with the projection light from the front surface projection display device is reflected and the light other than the circularly polarized light is not reflected is obtained with the reflection type screen. That is, the projection light is advantageously reflected, the effect of the external light is suppressed and the contrast of the display picture is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
