PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the degree of freedom for design about the relative positional relation between a semiconductor laser element and a pickup head holder at the time of installing a semiconductor laser in the holder. SOLUTION: When the semiconductor laser is installed in the pickup head holder, the relative positional relation between the semiconductor laser element 3 and holder becomes important. When the front cross section 301 of the notched section of a heat sink 1 behind the element 3 is used as a longitudinal reference plane, tae distance X1 between the element 3 and the cross section 301 can be set to an arbitrary value.
