The method involves providing a threshold signal (DS). A ramp signal (RPS) is provided in the cycle of a timing signal (OS), wherein the steepness of the ramp signal depends on the output voltage (Uout) of a connection converter. The threshold signal is compared with the ramp signal and the switch (S) is triggers depending on the result. The threshold signal depends on a quotient from a first signal that depends on the input current of the connection converter and a second signal that depends on the output voltage. An Independent claim is also provided for a trigger circuit for a switch in a connection converter.
