The invention relates to a device for transferring a material that is applied to a support strip in the form of a film onto a substrate, such as a sheet of notepaper or drawing paper. The inventive device comprises a housing, in which a supply reel for the film-coated support strip and an empty reel for receiving the support strip from which the film has been removed are disposed. The film-coated support strip is led via an application base (1) having an application edge (3) around which the support strip is wound. The application base (1) comprises lateral guide webs (8) that are aligned at least in their top section in parallel to the direction of run of the support strip. The aim of the invention is to improve the aforementioned device in such a manner that the support strip is reliably prevented from slipping off the application base while maintaining the smooth running and the correct transferability of the film onto the substrate. For this purpose, the guide webs (8) on the top of the application base (1), in the area contingent to the application edge (3), are provided with recesses (9) that are open towards the front in the direction of the application edge (3).
