A fitting component (1) consists an upholstered foam section (4) located on a carrier (2), and an outer cover (6). The carrier consists of a hard component (8) and a support component (10) connected to it. The support component extends from the carrier through the foam section, into a specific edge section of the latter. The cover at the edge region is supported against external loading. The support component consists of a semi-hard elastic material. The carrier consists of two plastics, one of which is polypropylene.
