The invention relates to an energy storage/booster device and, in particular, a device that can increase the speed of a vehicle comprising same by supplying the stored energy and/or providing a boost. The inventive device is of the type that uses an elastic means in order to store the kinetic energy of the vehicle. Said device is characterised in that it comprises: a) at least one mechanism for reducing the rotation speed of the wheel of the vehicle, said device being connected to the wheel; b) at least one elastic means which is connected to said reducing mechanism and which comprises a compression and expansion mechanism having a control mechanism, the aforementioned elastic means also being connected to: c) at least one gearbox mechanism for increasing the speed of movement generated by the elastic means during the energy supply step, said gearbox mechanism being connected to the wheel of the vehicle (in order propel the vehicle). The energy storage means can be, for example: a spring which is compressed by the thrust produced by a rack, a spring extended by tension produced by cable, a spiral spring, rubber strips, pneumatic shock absorber, among others, all of which can be combined in order to increase energy storage. The above-mentioned speed reduction and/or increase operations can be performed with straight spur gearing, chain gears or a combination of the two. The invention is particularly suitable for use in braking or when travelling downhill. |
