A shaft (4) is mounted in a housing (2) and operatively connected to the contacts (3) or shut-off device, and to a crank (5) arranged outside the housing for rotating the shaft. A releasable, positively-engaged connection is provided between the handle (13) of the crank (3) in the initial position and the housing, in order to provide a first safety device (15) against erroneous operation. A second safety device (33) is provided by a locking element which automatically blocks the shaft in the operating position. This device is not accessible from the outside of the housing.
