RADIO COMMUNICATE METHOD AND SYSTEM

A transmitter (1) transmits from an transmission antenna (7) a synthetic signal produced by combining a part of power of a radio frequency (RF) band modulation signal and a part of power of a local oscillation signal used by frequency conversion; meanwhile a receiver (8) detects it by means of a reception antenna & detection part (9). The reception antenna & dete ction part (9) has basic unit reception circuits (11) each composed of a planar printed antenna (12) such as a patch antenna, an amplifier circuit (13) fabricated i n the form of a small planar circuit by the MMIC technique, and a mixer circui t (14) functioning as a squarer. The powers of the outputs of the basic unit reception circuits are combined and delivered to an IF signal demodulating section. The IF signal demodulating section (10) demodulates the received data. Thus, in a very small space, a reception antenna having a detection function, a high gain, and a wide beam characteristic similar to that of a single antenna is installed.
