The invention concerns a nail varnish composition comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable medium, a polyurethane obtained by polycondensation of tetramethylxylylene diisocyanate. The invention also concerns a make-up and nail care method consisting in applying said composition on the nails. The composition produces a film with good cosmetic properties such as adherence and gloss, is not tacky and capable of being peeled off from the surface of the support whereon the film is deposited, but still capable of being removed with standard acetone and/or ethyl acetate solvents
