The air intake and purification device (40) has an inlet sucking in air and an outlet for the purified air. The main body (20) of the chair (10) has a seat (21), backrest (22) and two side panels (30), the upper side of the backrest being curved forwards to form a cover (23) projecting beyond the front side of the seat. The side panels are located on both sides of the seat and backrest. An air suction slit (27) is located in each front corner of the seat and this slit is in communication on the underside with a suction connection (29), which is linked via an out-pipe to the inlet in the air intake and purification device. The backrest contains a cavity extending from the lower side to the front side of the cover and this cavity forms an air channel. An air supply connection on the lower side of the backrest is linked via an in-pipe to the outlet of the air intake and purification device. The inside of the cover contains air exit openings close to its front edge. The flow of air generated covers at least the front edge of the seat. The chair includes at least one medical intake and purification device for air and an air flow cycle is generated.
