Packaging machine comprises a machine frame (1) for receiving and fixing work stations. The machine frame has parallel longitudinal elements (2, 12, 13) arranged a distance apart and transverse elements (3) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the frame and connected to the longitudinal elements in a form- and/or force-locking manner. The work stations are displaceably positioned at least partly along the longitudinal elements and can be fixed on these. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Process for constructing a packaging machine; and (2) Process for modifying partial regions of a packaging machine. Preferred Features: The length of the longitudinal elements can be changed. The longitudinal elements are tubes, preferably with a rectangular or square cross-section.
