发明名称 CARBON-CONTAINING REFRACTORY COMPOSED ESSENTIALLY OF ALUMINA
摘要 PURPOSE:To control wear amount under oxidizing and high-temp. conditions to a value within the allowable limit by embedding Al rods or wires and Al foils in a carbon-containing refractory and also coating the surface of the carbonaceous solid with fine Al powder. CONSTITUTION:Al rods or wires 2 of <=3mm diameter are embedded in a refractory composed of a brick 1 consisting of a mixture of alumina and carbonaceous solid, such as graphite, and further, Al foils 4 are also embedded. The Al rods or wires 2 are allowed to react with oxygen gas supplied from the inside of a furnace to form alumina as a product, by which carbon consumption by oxidation is inhibited. Since the Al foils 4 are oxidized by a high-temp. oxidizing gas and prevent the infiltration of hot oxidizing gas into the inner part, the wear of the refractory 1 can be reduced. Further, the surface of the carbonaceous solid is coated with fine Al powder to inhibit the infiltration of the high- temp. oxidizing gas.
