<p>The present invention provides a compression system for one-bit audio signals that uses entropy coding whose context includes information transmitted for the purpose. The context information will itself usually be transmitted in compressed form, for example using lossless compression. The additional context information may be a decimated version of the one-bit signal. The decimated signal will usually be multi-bit. The one-bit signal is divided into 'tuples' of eight bits, and each tuple is entropy coded using nearby samples of the decimated signal as context.</p> |
