A modular building system has two side frames assembled from vertical (1) and horizontal (2) struts. Cross members (3) with an H-profile are fitted with end wedges which locate into corresponding sockets on the upper ends of the vertical struts to form an interlocking system without requiring separate fasteners, or welding. The floor is provided by concrete panels slid into the H-profile cross members. The corners of the floor panels have cut outs around the wedge couplings. The design can be applied to multi storey buildings.
