A biopsy device consists of a handpiece, vacuum generating unit and needle. A biopsy device consists of a handpiece (1) into which a hollow biopsy needle is inserted. Part of the biopsy needle protrudes from the handpiece and can be inserted into the tissue to be examined. The tissue is drawn into the sample collecting space under vacuum, and the vacuum generating unit can be used to create excess pressure by opening a ventilation opening. The vacuum generating unit is located in the handpiece housing along with electrical units, control and supply units, and a connecting element (4). The latter is connected to the needle via a plastic section.
