The support bracket (1) has a slit which engages the downwardly turned edge of a sheet metal windowsill (2). A bore (18) in the bracket accommodates a screw holding a stop (5) and a support beam (19) for a decorative object, e.g. a window box (6). There may be a bracing rod (10) extending between the bottom of the bracket and the wall below the windowsill.
