Illumination system for rubber eraser uses small lamp embedded in rectangular eraser made of transparent rubber and held in place by bayonet lock

The illuminated eraser (1) consists of a rectangular block of transparent material (2) with a blind bore (3) containing a groove (4). The lamp assembly (7) has a housing containing a small battery and a contact closed by compressing a tongue in the side of the housing. A rib (8) on the housing fits into the groove in the side of the blind bore. The lamp (6) may be a LED and projects into a small diameter portion (5) at the bottom of the blind bore. The tongue may be depressed and the lamp illuminated by squeezing the opposed large faces (11,12) of the eraser.
