PURPOSE: A steam vacuum cleaner having automatic cleaning function and automatic cleaning method is provided to reduce preheating hours necessary for steam generating and to continuously generate steam by supplying water by a water supply pump. CONSTITUTION: A steam vacuum cleaner is composed of a waste tank, a vacuum unit(4), a vacuum motor(5) connected to the vacuum unit and discharging air, and a steam generating unit. The steam generating unit includes a heating unit, a pressure control unit, a temperature control unit, and an electronic valve. A water tank(10) is installed at one side of the vacuum unit. A water supply pump(13) is connected to the water tank and the steam generating unit, and supplies water in the water tank to the steam generating unit. A control unit(40) is electrically connected to the water supply pump and the steam generating unit.
