The controller (11) is operated at a desired control value corresponding with a volumetric airflow. This is equal to, or exceeds the maximum airflow in normal use. A pressure switch (7) is monitored, to determine whether it has switched over from its normal position. The fuel supply actuator (14) is not operated to take the burners into operation, until after switching (7) occurs. An Independent claim is included for the equipment required.
