摘要 PURPOSE: A method for connecting an optical waveguide chip and an optical fiber using a passive alignment is provided to reduce process time and process cost. CONSTITUTION: According to a structure for passive alignment between an optical waveguide chip and an optical fiber, an optical fiber array(1,4) comprises optical fibers and an alignment structure located in the same direction as the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber and an epoxy stop groove preventing an adhesive from flowing down to the alignment structure. A planar optical waveguide chip has an input/output optical waveguide formed in the same interval as the optical fibers to be combined with the optical fibers of the optical fiber array and an alignment structure corresponding the position of the above alignment structure formed on the optical fiber array. The alignment structure of the optical fiber array and the alignment structure of the optical waveguide chip are aligned by a push-pull method by a circular alignment pin(6).
