The method involves making a weld seam between two metal components at least with the aid of a welding beam in a deep welding mode and whereby an auxiliary material is fed to the region of the process zone during welding. The weld seam is processed with the aid of at least one melting beam in heat conducting mode and the auxiliary material is delivered to the process zone by at least one part of the beam profile of the melting beam.
