Method and device for measurement of an optical spectrum

A tunable broadband optical filter (3) with high precision in its central wavelength (lambda0), is tuned through the defined waveband. A tunable narrow band optical filter (5), connected in series with the broad band filter (3), is tuned over the waveband at different center wavelengths from that of the broad band filter. Its associated optical spectra (7) are measured simultaneously. By examination of all measured spectra, the maximum intensities measured at given wavelengths are found. All intensity values found at the respective central wavelengths are assembled to an output spectrum (11). An Independent claim is included for corresponding apparatus.
