PURPOSE: An FIFO device using a flag in an ATM is provided to use a dual port RAM for storing data, and to use the flag for controlling writing/reading processes of the data stored in the dual port RAM, thereby enabling a buffering and a routing function of many cells. CONSTITUTION: A WRCON unit(100) writes data in a memory or generates an address. An RDCON unit(110) generates an address for reading the data if the data is stored in the memory. A flag unit(120) is located between the WRCON unit(100) and the RDCON unit(110), sets a flag to '1' after writing the data in the memory, and resets the flag to '0' after reading the data stored in the memory. An FIFO unit(130) is applied with the data outputted from the WRCON unit(100) and the RDCON unit(110), is applied with input cell data, and outputs the applied cell data.
