A rocking bed comprises a base frame 112, to which are attached wheels (111) and vertical posts 114. A rocking frame 115 is mounted on the posts via pivots 116 to rock along its longitudinal axis relative to the base frame. Motor 120 is mounted on the rocking frame and drives shaft 121 via a reduction gear arrangement. Arm 122 is attached at one end to shaft 121 and at the other end to roller 123. Roller 123 is constrained to move along tracks 124 which are vertically mounted to posts 114. As the motor rotates forwardly and reversely, the arm swings right and left, thereby causing the rocking frame to rock. An angle sensor (126) detects the angle of swing of the rocking frame and reverses the motor when a certain value given by the angle setting device (127) has been exceeded. The mechanism is claimed to be quieter than prior art motorised rocking beds. |
