A biological sewage treatment system 1 including a sewage holding tank 2 with an inlet 3 and an outlet and a diffuser 7 mounted in the holding tank 2. A treated liquor discharge pump 6, is also included with an inlet 24 communicating with an interior of the holding tank and an outlet 25 which is connected to a liquid discharge line 5 for the discharge of treated liquor from the holding tank 2. A three way valve (not shown) may be used in the discharge line 5 to further re-circulate the liquor. The method of use can include an initial settling period before aeration, followed by a further settling period. An irrigation system for the treated waste water may be provided.
