PURPOSE:To provide a connection method of an optical waveguide device and an optical fiber, that can sufficiently respond to a field of high performance and high reliability, of optical communication and optical measurement. CONSTITUTION:For an optical waveguide device, in which an optical waveguide 12 of different refractive index is formed on a part of the polar surface of a dielectric or semiconductor, with the dielectric or the semiconductor as a substrate 11, so as to enclose light efficiently, when the optical waveguide device and an optical fiber are to be connected together, a convex microlens 24 is formed on the end surface of the optical waveguide 12, while the end surface of the optical fiber is processed into spheric surface as a point spheric fiber 25, and both of the end parts are point-connected together. |
