PURPOSE:To reduce the volume of HC.CO generated in exhaust gas, and, at the same time, improve the rate of fuel consumption by strengthening an intake vortex flow, and enhancing mixing performance and combustion performance. CONSTITUTION:A deflector 5 is provided inside a passage part 3a on the entrance side of an intake air port 3. The outward end part 5a of this deflector 5 is made eccentric to the side of the wall surface W on one side of its passage part 3a on the entrance side and supported freely swingable. While this deflector 5 is retreated by a load detection operating device 6 to a reference position V on the side of valve opening when an engine 1 is fully loaded, it is advanced to an operation position U on the side of valve closing when it is free from load, the deflector 5 is so set that it takes an inclined position T that almost faces to an intake air valve shaft 7 in a state wherein it is at the reference position V on the side of valve opening. The inward end part 5b of this deflector 5 is thrusted inward from the circumferential surface S of the passage part 3b on the exit side viewing from the axial direction of a cylinder 8, and brought and positioned more close to the intake valve shaft 7 than this circumferential surface S. |
