PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing polyarylate resin pellets by cooling strands extruded from an extruder in a molten state without generating air bubbles in the strands to cut the cooled strands by a pelletizer. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing polyarylate resin pellets by cooling the strands of a polyarylate resin held to a molten state in a water tank and cutting the cooled strands, the strands in the molten state are immersed in the water tank of which the temperature is held to a temperature lower than the glass transition temperature of the polyarylate resin by 100-120°C, and cooled at a cooling speed of 60°C/s or less until the surface temperature of the strands becomes lower than the glass transition temperature of the polyarylate resin by 10-50°C. After the surface temperature is held for 2 sec or more, the strands are cut to manufacture polyarylate resin pellets. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
