<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an ink jet recording sheet which has a good coated surface without generating a fissure on a coated layer in a drying process and has a good ink absorptive property, in the method for manufacturing the ink jet recording sheet wherein an ink receiving layer formed of at least two layers is provided on a base material. <P>SOLUTION: The ink receiving layer is provided by a simultaneous coating method. A coating liquid for any layer other than the outermost layer in the ink receiving layer is prepared to be a solid content concentration of 5 to 70% and a pressure dehydrating amount by AA-GWR of ≥60 g/m<SP>2</SP>. Preferably, the coating liquid contains an organic or inorganic pigment with a mean particle size of 3 μm. Preferably, ≥10% of the solid content of the liquid is a non-water- soluble resin.
