PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer which can print according to circumstances also to a packaging material formed of a transparent or an opaque resin. SOLUTION: The inkjet printer 1 has a plurality of heads 2, 2 and the like for discharging ink, and a carriage 3 for moving the plurality of heads 2, 2 and the like. The plurality of heads 2, 2 and the like include a white color head for discharging a white color ink and each process color head for discharging each color ink of a process color. The inkjet printer 1 is equipped with a control means for selectively controlling whether to carry out surface printing by discharging ink from each process color head after discharging ink from the white color head, or to carry out backing printing by discharging ink from the white color head after discharging ink from each process color head.
