<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print a status sheet quickly without having any effect on a print job under execution. <P>SOLUTION: The controller 10 of a printer 1 manages print jobs received through a network 4 by means of a schedular 10a and registers them on a schedule table in the order of reception. Printing is then performed in the order registered on the schedule table. When a print instruction of a status sheet is received from a control panel 13, that instruction is virtually regarded as a print job received from an interface and registered on the schedule table such that it has a highest priority among print jobs waiting execution.
