<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium which has a luster of a silver salt photograph and further, gives a high ink absorbability and a high scuffing resistance. <P>SOLUTION: A recording layer, which contains a pigment and a two component mixture comprising a polyvinyl alcohol (a) having a polymerization degree of 1,000 or lower and a saponification degree of from 98 to 99 mol% and a polyvinyl alcohol (b) having a polymerization degree of 1,500 or higher and a saponification degree of from 87 to 89 mol%, is laid on an air permeable base. A processing liquid which coagulates polyvinyl alcohol is coated on the recording layer and while the layer is still in wet state, it is pressed and dried on a heated mirror finished surface so as to provide a luster on the surface of the recording layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
