PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct illuminance of an optical fixing unit comprising a large number of light emitting elements easily. SOLUTION: The optical fixing unit, i.e., a light emitting element array 16 for Y (yellow), comprises a large number of LEDs 23 for Y radiating UV- rays. A plurality of LEDs 23 in each row L1-L36 in the subscanning direction are connected in series. Integrated illuminance of each row is regulated by varying electric energy being supplied to each row. During inspection of the light emitting element array 16 for Y at the time of production, integrated illuminance of each row is measured in the subscanning direction and illuminance distribution is determined in the main scanning direction. Integrated illuminance of each row is corrected such that the illuminance distribution becomes uniform. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
