PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium conveying device and an ink jet type recording device capable of improving recording quality by shortening recording time especially when no-blank-space recording of the upper end of the recording medium is included. SOLUTION: A stage 50 is provided with only an ink receiving part 53 for receiving ink thrown out of a nozzle in the no-blank-space recording of the upper end of the recording medium. Thus, the upper end of the recording medium can be sucked on the stage and conveyed by movement of the stage, and one ink receiving part for the no-blank-space recording of the upper end is simply required to be disposed on the stage. Therefore, a rib required for securing a paper gap and reducing conveying resistance need not to be disposed on the stage. The no-blank-space recording of the upper end can be performed at a normal recording speed using all nozzles, so that the recording time can be shortened and the recording quality of the entire surface of the recording medium can be improved.
