PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical glass lathe which sucks glass fine powders and heat generated when a flame is ejected toward a glass rod from a burner on a position near a generation source and efficiently exhausts and removes the same. SOLUTION: The vertical glass lathe is provided with a burner 5 which vertically moves along the glass rod 2 so as to eject the flame 4a toward the glass rod 2 located perpendicularly, an exhaust duct 9 having a suction part 10 which is positioned on the opposite side across the glass rod 2 from the burner 5 and is vertically movable and a synchronizing means 19 which synchronizes the sucking part 10 of the exhaust duct 9 with the vertical movement of the burner 5 and moves the sucking part 10 vertically.
