<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic material which is suitable for a high-grade, wear resistant, chipping resistant member, and to provide a production method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The metal boride solid solution ceramic is obtained by incorporating 0.1 to 5.0 mass% of the cracked powder of a silicon carbide sintered compact with a grain size of 0.01 to 0.20 μm into a metal boride solid solution ceramic having a composition of Ti<SB>1-</SB>XMeXB<SB>2</SB>(wherein, Me is at least one kind of metal selected from V, Nb, Ta, Cr and Mo, and 0.02≤x≤0.50). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
